Jay joined Colchester United in September 2023, signing a two year contract.
After progressing through the West Ham Academy, Mingi signed a professional contract at Chartlon Athletic in 2019.
He made a couple of appearances in his short spell at The Valley, before signing for Portsmouth a year later.
It took Jay a bit of time to gain regular football at Fratton Park, but he broke into the Pompey squad at the beginning of last season and went on to make twenty-six appearances.
Contract talks broke down in summer 2023, and the midfielder secured a deal here in North Essex.
He made his U's debut in Colchester's 2-0 victory against Tranmere Rovers on 9th September 2023.
